When were you born? Has much changed in the time that you have been growing up. How much do you remember of your young life?
Jackie Spiteri and Jeanette Hardiman grew up in Dorset, and we are thrilled to welcome them to the second Fiction For Fun event to share their experiences of village life as they grew up.
Cousins, Jackie and Jeanette lived in neighbouring villages in Dorset as children. Jackie, whom many people will remember from her time working as a reporter and sub-editor for the BVM, now lives in Marnhall, where she works as a freelance ghostwriter. Jeanette’s adult life took her into the world of finance where she gained experience in marketing and communications. Jeanette now lives in Shaftesbury and is involved in many of the voluntary organisations that make up this vibrant town.
Jackie and Jeanette began delivering a weekly podcast on the local radio station, Alfred 107.3 FM, where they reminisced about their shared childhood and their individual experiences. The podcast was so well received that they have assembled their memories into their book simply entitled “Two Grow up in Dorset.”
If you remember school dinners, school milk, mini skirts, pop stars, first jobs, and first boyfriends, then this is definitely for you. Come and join Jeanette and Jackie as they lead a workshop that triggers memories of your childhood and provides guidance on how to create your own story. Come and join the group at the Grosvenor Hotel on Saturday, April 5th, to be transported back to your own memories of childhood and beyond.
We will have copies of the book available to buy during the week and they are available online from here, Folde Bookshop or from Shaftesbury’s Gold Hill Museum.
