To welcome you to our second day of the festival on Friday, April 4, we are giving you extra coffee time with… With so much to get into this session from two local and very talented authors, Kathy Morgan and Elizabeth (Liz) Foster, we are running the session from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Kathy Morgan talks Audible
From Horsewoman to Author – how did that come about?
Well, every cloud has a silver lining, and Kathy’s came about after an injury prevented her from driving and riding for many weeks. To keep herself occupied during that bleak time, she wrote about her beloved horses instead. A family and friends’ vote of approval led to the publication of her first book, and now there are no less than eight!
Kathy has now taken that further and produced her first book, The Limner’s Art, on Audible locally and will share details of the process of transferring your book into Audible.
Kathy lives in Shaftesbury, and her latest book, Field Murder, is set there. This is the first in her new series featuring Yvonne Parker. https://www.kathymorganbooks.com/
Elizabeth Foster talks Kindle
Sharing the limelight, Liz Foster will join Kathy to discuss her experiences getting the first of her novels, Be My Baby, out on Kindle.
Growing up in Leicester, Liz Foster took her degree at Hull University, reading American history and literature. She might look like a motherly character, but there is clearly a tougher side to her. After university, she trained as a social worker and a probation officer!
She had always enjoyed writing, and wrote four novels, all unpublished, before deciding, in her fifties, that she would give up her full time work to write professionally.
Be My Baby was published on Kindle in December, and Amazon is now producing a paperback of the same title. We hope to have copies in the in-house bookshop during the festival. Liz is excited to see her work in print and hopes to see more.
Liz moved to Shaftesbury two years ago to be near her daughter and family and has now integrated herself into Shaftesbury life. She can often be found at Shaftesbury Arts Centre in the box office or helping with costume making for the many and varied productions. She is also one of the voices you hear on Alfred radio on a Sunday morning reading her stories. Liz’s book is available on Kindle here.
